France is one of the most delightful destinations when it comes to food. One’s trip to Paris is simply not successful without eating some of the most delicious staples of its culinary culture. To help you avoid tourist traps, we’ve created this blog to direct you to some of the nicest local spots. From historical buildings to high-end entrees, you’ll get the full French experience. Read on to discover our selection of four restaurants in Paris and get ready to take your taste buds on the adventure of a lifetime.
Even though our properties all include a fully equipped kitchen where you can make yourself a lovely breakfast, we highly recommend that you try Angelina one morning. Since their opening in the early 1900s, they’ve been widely known to have one of the best, if not the best, hot chocolate in the country. Our favorite location is the one on the Avenue des Tuileries, right across the street from a lovely park where you can take a stroll, and minutes away from the Louvre. You’ll love the Louis XVI decor and impeccable luxury of the room. We recommend getting there early since a long line can form as time goes on. When you sit down, order the Parisian Breakfast, which is about 19 euros per person and includes a basket of viennoiseries (croissants, chocolate croissants, raisin swirls), a freshly squeezed juice, toasts with jam, honey, and butter, and, of course, a mouthwatering pot of creamy hot chocolate.
If you want to mix delicious French food with history, then you have to go to Le Procope. It opened in 1686, making it one of the oldest restaurants in Paris. There, you can see an incredible collection of historical artifacts, including Napoleon’s hat, Voltaire’s desk, and even sit at the tables where famous French writers, like Verlaine, Roussot, and Diderot (one of the creators of the encyclopedia) once sat. The menu is composed of French classics like Coq au Vin, braised ox, and delicious desserts, like crème brûlée. Make sure you ask to see the top floor where one of Paris’ very first printing rooms was installed. The first guillotine during the French revolution of 1789 was also located right across from it in a small courtyard. Needless to say, Le Procope will delight both your taste buds and intellect!
If you’re looking for a trendy and more intimate place to have dinner, then La Mangerie is ideal. This wonderful restaurant is located in the fashionable Marais area and serves top-notch, French-inspired tapas entrees. The decor is absolutely whimsical and features life-size trees, stone walls, and candles. The place is rather small, so make sure you get there early since they do not take reservations. We highly recommend trying one of their craft cocktails with your tapas selection. The menu changes regularly to ensure the product’s freshness and seasonality.
We kept the best for last! Au Petit Riche is one of our all-time favorite restaurants in Paris. This beautiful place was built in 1854 and was one of the most famous spots in town. High society attended regularly as well as famous figures, like ministers, actors, writers, and more. You can see its incredible history on the walls as you go upstairs where the bathroom is located. The decor is authentic and kept all of its 19th-century charm. The food is absolutely delicious and features French classics, like oysters, escargots, beef tartare, fish quenelle, roasted veal ribs, and a succulent dessert and wine menu. If the food wasn’t enough, the service is also impeccable. Prices are a bit high, but not excessive, and the experience is by far worth every penny.
Now that you know where to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it’s time to find you the ideal place to stay. Paris is a big city, and even though it is easy to navigate with the bus and metro system, you want to be as close to the center as possible. There’s nothing like walking in the streets with your loved ones, discovering hidden treasures at every corner, and feeling like a true native. Commendable Rentals’ properties in Paris were selected with that in mind. Our luxurious apartments can host up to eight guests and feature modern amenities, like fully equipped kitchens and bathrooms. You will love the authentic decor and elegant atmosphere as well as their ideal locations, either in the 1st or 7th arrondissement.
