Dreaming of Provence for your family’s or friends’ trip! In the heart of Provence’s famed Luberon, lies Maison Marula, a special oasis with olives and lavender, a pond and a stream; with not one, but two two salt water swimming pools. On offer is a 5 bedroom house and its two bedroom guest house, with plenty of space for 14 people to share time together, and yet have plenty of space. Of course there is wifi throughout the houses and park. There is also underfloor cooling and heating for ultimate comfort. Vine-covered outside terraces offer plenty of superb exterior living space for lounging and dining. After all, that is what you do in Provence?
As you stroll the garden watch out for a charming wooden elephant who adds a touch of whimsy and inspired the name.
Each of the 5 double bedrooms in the main house has its own ensuite. There are two king-sized beds, two queens, and one room with twin beds. A fully equipped kitchen in the main house , and a second at the pool house, offer fridges, ovens, microwave, ice-cube makers and coffee machines.
The spacious living room has comfortable seating and satellite TV with French and English channels + Netflix.
The Main house pool is a 5m x 10m x 1.5m salt water pool with a submerged security shutter. Poolside, there is another fully equipped kitchen with a full- size fridge and freezer, a bar fridge for cool drinks, an ice cube maker, a dishwasher, gas BBQ, all crockery and cutlery. What pleasure to dine under the Provencal sky enjoying sunshine or starlight, and of course, the sounds of singing birds, crickets and frogs, There is an additional WC in the pool house with a warm outdoor shower. No need to run inside!
A second Pool at the Guest house is a saIt-water heated pool, a large 8m x 4m x 1.5m also with a safety shutter. Note that small children require constant supervision around the garden as there are a stream and two ponds.
The Guest house is fully independent and on the ground floor offers a living room, a dining room, a fully equipped kitchen, a shower room with a washing machine and a WC. Upstairs there are two bedrooms (1 x 160cm) and the other (2 x 120 cm – large super singles), as well as another toilet. There is A/C throughout this property. It is a few steps away from the main house, and offers a bit more privacy for perhaps the grandparents, or a family who wanted a bit more privacy.
The Guest house is supplemental to pricing for Main house.
There is plenty of parking for 4 cars and under-cover parking for one car.
Things to do: Far from a problem! Rent a bike and explore the countryside; take photos of those famous lavender fields and Van Gogh’s sunflowers. You will want to visit those famed Provence markets where you will buy Tapenades and olives, spices, cheeses, and fruits and vegetables galore. My favorite is Apt, just a few kilometers away, also famous for its local ceramics, and its preserved fruits (“les fruits confits”). It’s a 4 kilometer hike to St.Saturnin-les-Apt, an amazingly lovely town perched on top of a hill.
An hour or less away, you have Aix-en-Provence, with its beautiful streets and the famous Cours Mirabeau. And, you won’t want to miss Sunday at Isle -sur la-Sorgue for its famous antique dealers and brocantes as well as the Sunday market. Stroll along its river and then stop for a perfect Sunday lunch.
