Enter into a descreet and charming world, just a stroll from Uzès famous Place aux Herbes, and its famous provencal market and boutiques. Here is a new hotel in a 17th century architectural gem, where luxury, intimacy, and attention to detail are revered as an art. There are currently 9 Bedrooms and Suites, but next year there will be 15, spaced around a monumental stone stair-case that takes your breath away. Modernity blends joyously with history. The bedrooms in soft neutral colors create a luminous and comforting world where high coffered ceilings and elegant proportions combine with luxury bedding, and artistic features as such lighting and mirrors. Bathrooms are enormous, and beautifully furnished.
The Hotel’s Restaurant is called the “Table de’Uzes”. It’s chef, the young and talented Oscar Garcia, has a refined and imaginative touch, as well as that all-important respect for the rich offerings of local fruits and vegetables. Start with lunch on your arrival day, and you will be tempted to eat only here – though there are many other wonderful restauarnts to try in Uzes!
An additional pleasure is the Spa, which has been dramatically created in the lower level, and where well-trained specialists await you for a moment of relaxation.
Uzes is a town for walking, and the immediate area is one for biking. It offers twice weekly, one of the best markets in Provence. The hotel will happily provide you with bikes to wander hrough the vineyards and the small, lovely villages that dot the countryside. There is no shortage of places to visit by car, either. The amazing Roman Pont du Gard is only 15 minutes away, and Nimes within half an hour, and Avignon, Arles and St.Remy all within an hour.
Spoil yourself by trying the local wines. There are enough gastronomic restaurants in the area to keep a gourmand very happy indeed! These are some of the reasons the UK’s Guardian newspaper designated Uzès as the #2 destination to visit in 2014 (Cape Town being #1)!
